I Spoke at Comic Con Africa 2025, causing a shift in the creative industry!

Let's start first with who we are?

Wonderr Studio is a creative animation & design studio focused on changing the way how businesses market themselves. We educate our clients and prospects on the benefits animations, mascots & illustrations can have to their marketing game. Increasing their engagement & leads x2 when implemented with a strong strategy.

However, we are also focusing on creating in-house anime styled entertainment content.

Artist hold more economical impact than most of us realize, so it is time to stop being abused

Artists and creatives hold more economic potential than we often realize.

South Africans deeply engage with storytelling—through film, games, comics, animation—yet often overlook the industries behind them.

Our task: illuminate the creative economy’s real impact and invite everyone—from employees to entrepreneurs—to invest in and benefit from our creative ecosystem.

How big is this SA industry, number wise

  • The creative industry in SA already adds over R160 billion to the economy every year.
  • That’s almost a million jobs across things like design, film, animation, visual art.
  • Businesses who use creative tools—like animations, illustrations, or branded characters—see big results:
    • Animated videos can boost sales by 80%.
    • 3D animation can increase engagement by 30% compared to flat visuals.
    • Even adding paintings to offices has been shown to improve employee mood and productivity.

That’s proof: art doesn’t just look good, it works

What can we do as artist to get more public support

A. Tell Stories They Understand

  • Don’t just say: “I draw.”
  • Say: “I help companies connect with their customers using visuals.”
  • Or: “This illustration can make your brand more memorable.”
  • Or: “This painting can make your office feel inspiring, not cold.”

B. Show Up in New Spaces

  • We love cons, galleries, and online spaces—but step into business networks.
  • Talk to accountants, lawyers, shop owners. They might not buy today, but they’ll remember you.
  • I’ve seen it myself: when I explain what animation can do to a tax consultant, their eyes light up.

C. Share Proof, Not Just Art

  • Instead of only showing your sketchbook, share quick results:
    • “Animated explainer videos increased my client’s leads by 20%.”
    • “A mural I painted made the space so inviting they booked more events.”
  • Stats + stories = people take you seriously.

D. Collaborate

  • Work with teachers, local coffee shops, tourism offices.
  • Imagine an animation explaining school lessons, or a mural that makes a café a landmark.
  • These small collabs add up and spread our influence.

Time to change our mindset as artists

  • We need to stop thinking: “I just make art.”
  • Start thinking: “I create value, I solve problems, I fuel the economy.”
  • The world doesn’t change because one artist screams loud—it changes because a lot of us keep showing up, keep telling people why art matters, and keep building opportunities together.
  • Talk about your art like it’s powerful—because it is.
  • Step into rooms where art isn’t normally present.
  • Connect, educate, collaborate.
  • If we all do this, piece by piece, we’ll build a South Africa where art isn’t just seen—it’s valued, supported, and unstoppable.

“Every drawing, every animation, every painting—it’s not just art. It’s the building block of South Africa’s creative future. And we, the artists, are the ones holding the bricks.”

🎤 Wonderr Studio – Growing South Africa’s Anime & 2D Animation Future

At Wonderr Studio, our mission is simple but bold: we want to build South Africa’s first dedicated anime studio.

Why anime? Because it’s one of the fastest-growing entertainment industries in the world—streaming platforms are investing billions into it, and audiences everywhere can’t get enough of powerful stories told through 2D animation. But here in South Africa, we don’t yet have a studio dedicated to creating anime on that scale, rooted in our culture, our voices, and our stories. That’s where Wonderr steps in.

Our vision is to grow into a studio that not only produces original anime series and films, but also becomes a hub for local 2D animation talent. Step one is building strong, story-driven projects that can compete globally. Step two is growing the studio to hire more South African artists—illustrators, animators, writers, voice actors—and give them opportunities to work on international-quality productions without having to leave the country.

This is bigger than just one studio. By creating anime here, we’re investing in the local creative economy. We’re opening doors for 2D animation to flourish in South Africa, the same way it already thrives in Japan, the US, and beyond. And as Wonderr grows, we want to be the proof that South African stories, told through anime, can inspire audiences across the world—while creating real jobs and real opportunities right here at home.

In short, Wonderr Studio is about building more than shows. We’re building a creative future where South African artists can dream, create, and work in a thriving 2D animation space.”
